DILHR – Rental Weatherization Inspector RWP
Starting January 1, 1985, most residential rental properties in Wisconsin have had to meet minimum energy conservation standards at the time of ownership transfer. Private state-certified inspectors (such as Area Inspection Services, LLC) are hired by owners to check properties for compliance with the standards. The Register of Deeds in your county will not record the transfer of property unless: an inspector has certified the property, the buyer files a stipulation agreeing to bring it up to code within a year, the buyer signs a waiver agreeing to demolish the building within 2 years, or the property is excluded under Comm 67.
If you have any questions about any part of the WI Rental Weatherization Program requirements feel free to call, I’ll be glad to answer your questions even if you don’t need the inspection.
